    Planking - The good method of planking a hull ?
  • Answers:

  • The strakes of the finishing planking must have a variable width to cover the hull regularly.
  • This width of strakes is going to be calculated at level of each bulkhead (2).
  • The calculation formula is simple:
  • - Divide the height of the biggest bulkhead by the width of the planking strips. It gives the number of strakes which will be laid.

    - Divide the height of each bulkhead by the number of strakes. It gives the width of strakes onto each frame.

    - Profile the strakes with a jig reproducing the obtained widths.
