  • Question:
Sails - Furled or displayed ?
  • Answers:

  • Both can be combined. The furled lower sails have the advantage of not hiding the decks and their details.
  • Illustrations show vessels of lines on fight having their lower sails furled.
  • For a static model, thus alongside the quay, all furled sails can be acceptable.
  • But displayed sails give the ship all her dimension.
  • Comparaisons:
    - 2006 American Cup: 370m2 for the mainsail and the jib, for an overall length of 26m.
    - Bluenose 1921: 1.000m2 of sail for an overall length of 44m.
